The Route & Rules 

Explore the route, road trip rules, and various required checkpoints from around the state of Wisconsin

Road Trip Rules

  • Only fully Electric Vehicles (EV) can be used for this event. No hybrids or plug-in-hybrids. 

  • Each group of drivers has to supply their own EV with one car per group. 

    • This event is open to residents of any state. ​

  • Obey the posted speed limit, and other traffic laws, at all times. â€‹â€‹

  • Each group MUST check in at each checkpoint.

  • At each checkpoint, your team will take a photo with the location in the background, post it on social media (like the Wisconsin EVA Facebook and Instagram pages), tag the business, and then continue to the next checkpoint.   

  • The entry fee is $50 per person (each driver pays the entry fee). Vehicle charging, lodging, food, etc. will be done at your own cost.  

  • All drivers must have a valid drivers license, the car must have current insurance, and all participants must obey all Wisconsin laws along your route. 

  • 2 free one year memberships to the Electric Vehicle Association will be given away. Winners will be announced at the finish line reception dinner/wrap up event.  

The Route

Starting Point

The event will begin in Madison at Bergstrom Chevrolet located at 1345 Applegate Road. Registration begins at 7am. Opening comments at 8am with the driving beginning promptly at 8:30am. We will drive counter-clockwise around the state, stopping at each checkpoint. At the end of the first day we will have a free EV car show in Wausau from 5-8pm at Kocourek Chevrolet.

Finish Line 

The event concludes in Deerfield, at the Couillard Solar Foundation's campus, on Saturday August 10th, 2024. They are located at 10 Liberty Street in Deerfield, WI. There will be a reception dinner/wrap up event from 5-7pm. At the dinner we will announce the winners of our prizes/have a silent auction, have an EV presentation and discuss how the event went.  

After you sign up, please contact the event organizer (Jeremiah) at wisceva@gmail.com and provide the following information: Your name, the vehicle you'll be using, how many people you think will be in your group, and their names. Each member of your team should bring a copy of their confirmation receipt to registration on the morning of August 9, 2024.

Day One Route 

Leave Bergstrom Chevrolet of Madison at 8:30am

Kenosha: 10109 75th Street
Checkpoint Sponsor: Lynch Chevrolet
50KW charger on site. Look for the tents with EVs under them; take a picture with one. Bathroom/coffee/water/snacks located inside.
 
Sheboygan: 595 S Taylor Drive
Checkpoint Sponsor: Dreamcatcher Energies
Look for the company vehicle by the Tesla Superchargers near Festival Foods
 
Green Bay: 2700 S Ashland Ave
Checkpoint Sponsor: Bergstrom Chevrolet
Take a picture showing that you're at Bergstrom, to put on your social media accounts.
 
Wausau: 152200 Morning Glory Lane
Kocourek Chevrolet will host a free-to-attend EV car show. Get questions about EV ownership answered, sit in the vehicles, ride in/test drive participant's EV (if they're comfortable with it) and see what all the fuss is about. We will not be able to test drive the EVs that Kocourek has on site, but you can look at/sit in them. 
5-8pm.  

Day Two Route

Leave Wausau by 8:30am

Eau Claire: 4000 Campus Rd
Checkpoint Sponsor: Chippewa Valley Technical College
Take a picture by the college's solar array at the address listed above. If you need charging, the chargers are located at 3810 Campus Rd. These are level 2 chargers capable of outputting 9kw (30 amp).  

Onalaska: 1447 Oak Forest Drive
Checkpoint Sponsor: Olson Solar
They have an AWESOME solar display in their lobby. Take your pic for social media near that display.  
 
Prairie du Chien: 1915 S Marquette Road
Checkpoint Sponsor: Culvers
Great lunch spot. Delicious food and custard. 

Finish Line: Deerfield: 10 Liberty Street
Meet us at the Couillard Solar Foundation's campus for a reception dinner from 5-7pm.  We will all meet in the parking lot on the corner of Liberty Street and S Grand Ave. Our guest speaker (Ben Behlke; RENEW Wisconsin) will talk about the WEVI plan that is bringing 53 chargers to the state soon, and there will be (possibly) a food truck there.


Prizes to be awarded:

A Tesla to J1772 "level 2" Lectron adapter ($180 value).
